Poster -Mark 12:31: They Are Neighbors Too
The social message from many churches often implies that non-binary individuals must conform to societal tolerances, compromising their true selves. Instead, churches should focus on embracing inclusiveness, shifting their mindset away from limitation and discrimination. While overt anti-LGBTQIA+ comments have largely diminished, significant barriers still hinder those seeking to express their authentic identities beyond the gender binary.
As the number of individuals identifying as nonbinary increases, the likelihood of encountering nonbinary members within congregations also rises. It is essential for these congregations to thoughtfully consider ways to genuinely welcome and accept nonbinary individuals. Establishing inclusive environments is crucial for fostering a sense of belonging and respect for all.
Although I do not adhere to religion, I created this artwork to resonate with the humanity of nonbinary individuals who seek love and understanding from the church. My commitment as an ally stems from a deep love for my neighbor.
