  • The artwork I have created explores the profound impact of racism on black men, illustrating how it dehumanizes them and shadows their everyday existence. Through this art, I aimed to portray black men's painful social challenges and vulnerability vividly.

Racism significantly diminishes the quality of life for black men and tragically even shortens their lives. Regrettably, society's comprehension of racism against black men is predominantly shaped by the sight of deceased black male bodies.

Black men are often unfairly labeled as more violent, promiscuous, and dangerous compared to other racial and gender groups. Regardless of their economic achievements and personal aspirations, black men continue to be unjustly viewed as more menacing. Racism cruelly exposes black men to targeted lethal violence, police brutality, and economic hardships.

In my artwork, the plastic bubble wrap symbolizes the disproportionate struggles endured by black men due to racism. This metaphor highlights how racism acts as both an emotional shield and a source of divergent consequences for black men. The bubble wrap also serves as a poignant representation of the barriers black men must carry while navigating the impact of racism.
