Framed poster -They Ain't Shit!
Haiti achieved independence from France in 1804, but this remarkable triumph was swiftly met with isolation from global powers. As an independent, Black-led nation forged by formerly enslaved individuals who fought tirelessly for their freedom, Haiti stood in stark contrast to a world dominated by white-led nations enforcing ruthless, racist oppression.
In a shocking twist of irony, Haiti was compelled to pay reparations to its former slaveholders. Yes, you read that correctly: it was the free Haitians, not their French oppressors, who were forced to compensate their enslavers and their descendants for the audacity of gaining their freedom. The burden of these unjust reparations took over a century to resolve, crippling Haiti's potential for prosperity in the process.
In my artwork, the pig head that replaces Napoleon's face symbolizes the French government's greed, apathy, and arrogance. The actions taken against the Haitian people post-Revolution exemplify a blatant act of colonial theft. Many argue that France's extortion of Haiti stands as the greatest heist in history.
This artwork isn't intended to be comical, but I am clownin' the French government for their actions towards Haiti.
