Framed poster -Privilege

PriceFrom $187.00

  • This artwork offers a nuanced exploration of the privileged relationship that some white women have with systemic racism in the United States. Historically, they have not been mere passive observers but have served as significant contributors to the construction of the systems of oppression that persist today. They were co-architects of these societal structures, holding influential positions at the very moments when these systems were being designed and implemented.

The juxtaposition in the artwork serves as a provocative commentary on the paradoxical roles that some white women occupy. While they may face their struggles with sexism and discrimination, their societal privileges often provide them with opportunities and advantages that Black individuals do not experience.

Visually, the artwork features a dominant white woman at the forefront, her posture and expression exuding power and authority. In stark contrast, Black individuals are depicted in the background, struggling to escape the weight of systemic oppression that confines them. This imagery acts as a bold metaphor, illustrating the disparities in their respective experiences and underscoring the inherent unfairness within society. The piece abstractly reflects the complexities of societal privilege.
