  • The art I've created seeks to visually communicate the complex impact of colorism on sisters with brown skin. It delves into the emotional and psychological challenges faced by brown-skinned black women who navigate a society that frequently privileges lighter skin tones over darker ones.

Colorism, deeply linked to racism, serves as a constant reminder that societal hierarchies and perceptions of superiority are based on skin color. It is a system that has significant implications for the self-worth and experiences of those affected.

The plastic bubble wrap serves as a metaphor for the complex issue of colorism. It stands as a necessary shield against the harmful effects of colorism, yet it also contributes to the feeling of invisibility experienced by brown-skinned women. Society often fails to recognize and celebrate the beauty of brown-skinned black women wholly.
